Well I guess the grumpy Kereru bit is self evident, and it was obviously a bit ruffled about the whole deal, what with me invading it’s space in the only dab of morning winter sun. I couldn’t quite make up my mind about the choice of header image for the month so in the interests of possible public preference particularly Piscean (PPPPP) in format.... grumpy took pride of place although something fishy is just as colourful in it’s own way, click either to view the bones of the matter.
Grumpy Kereru and Fishbones
2015 - June
25th of freezing. True this is not the first frost this season but it undoubtably is the first FROST!! keeping in mind this is the balmy Coromandel...... supposedly. Collapsing vege’s everywhere, ice floes in unheard of places and a rather wonderful sight to behold in the first of the morning sun. For those that do not know the area this is verging on the unusual. So impressive it was that the Lady of the Manor was seen wrapped in rugs (and little else), hotfooting it towards the top pond to marvel at the sight of intense ice pack and severely crunchy grass, until it all got too much and she implied that her morning cuppa, (and telephone), in bed, was overdue........
View out of the upstairs bedroom window. That tree fern is the better part of 8-9 metres tall and frozen to the top just like everything else in sight.
Top pond, it’s big, and never been known to freeze before.
6th June On the main sculpture walk all the support railing are in place and I would like to acknowledge Moya from next door for supplying the giant bamboo uprights, many thanks Moya. All the uprights are crowned with pottery “Sea Urchins” with the rails in black bamboo and quite sturdy. The overall effect so nice I will likely continue it with various marker posts.
18th June The last of the current round of seating additions is now in place at “Heads Up” on the main walk. Another creation in used Jara decking timber, (for that “older look” so beloved by the mistress of the manor :-) General track upgrades continue as usual with plans being made for additional sculpture works, ideas abound yet lack of progress does astound, it must be winter and time to indulge in the cremation of trees gone by in an effort to be warm and dry......... (probably best this is a short post having just read that bit of pansy prose :-)  and to top it all off we saw and heard our first pair of Kaka on the property, high in the gum trees, this is a good sign methinks, unless of course they come back in summer when the fruit is ripe.......
